The great thing about your fandom being a crime procedural is that you know going in that some classics just need to be written and will be. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, I give you "undercover-in-a-gay-bar". Not only did lamardeuse write it, but she wrote it well. The fic is amusing, the banter just works, and the expected atmosphere of "we're already awkward about how hot we are for each other and the setting really isn't helping" is dead on. Then to top it all off there's some suitably hot nookie.[1]
Steve/Danny | NC-17. Danny and Steve go undercover in a gay bar. The thing was, it wasn't like Danny didn't know Steve and him had – something, he didn't really know what. He'd married a woman who'd shown him that fighting and fucking were just two sides of the same coin, and pretty much every time he yelled at Steve in the car lately, it felt like foreplay.[2]
Steve/Danny, NC-17, ~4100 words === This show. Seriously. In any other fandom, the going under-cover in a gay bar cliche is just that: much-beloved fanon trope. On this show, I'm thinking it'll happen in canon sooner rather than later. I doubt it'll be any hotter than this, but, hey, you never know.[3]
