Mother Dearest, is a zine featuring mothers or mother figures from multiple anime series such as Boku no Hero Academia, Naruto, Kill la Kill, Hunter x Hunter and more. The zine was made as a sequel to Father Dearest,, a zine for anime fathers.
About
After the objectifying meatfest BBQ that was Father Dearest, (2021) we've redeemed ourselves with this reverent and respectful follow-up featuring homages to classical work and lots of florals. Hope you enjoy it just as much! 💝😊[1]
The zine consisted of 25 artists invited by the moderators themselves to participate. The zine was created as a sequel to Father Dearest,. When preorders opened, andythelemon emphasized that there would not be a grandparent/GILF zine in the future, stating that "the bloodline ends here"[2].
Preorders for a physical edition opened on March 18 to October 4, 2022[3]. These preorders included a pack of 10 stickers designed by contributors. Digital copies continued to be sold at limited quantities afterwards.
On July 2, 2022, andythelemon posted on Twitter that £310 + £77.50 Gift Aid (approximately $470 USD) was donated to Mothers for Mothers, a local community organization offering mental health support for mothers and parents[4].
