Canon
Mort is a boy with poor prospects. He goes to an apprentice fair where all the other boys get jobs, just as he is about to go home, a man on a white horse comes by and chooses him as an apprentice. It is only later that he realizes he is apprenticed to DEATH himself!
Fandom
The discworld novels are arguably the most popular works by the late author Terry Pratchett. Mort is a minor character who is mostly only found in the eponymous novel.
