Morland Holmes is a character from the television series Elementary, based on the character of the same name from Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes series.
Canon History
Morland Holmes is the father of Sherlock Holmes and Mycroft Holmes. He is introduced as a highly influential businessman who has worldwide influence and power.
He uses his influence to restore Sherlock and Joan Watson back to their positions as Consulting Detectives. Later on, he takes over Jamie Moriarty's criminal organisation, after the current leader threatens his life and dissenting members threaten the lives of Sherlock and Joan. He pledges to dismantle the organisation from the inside.
Fanfic Portrayals
As the character was not introduced until Season Four, or 2015, early portrayals of the character in fan fic often use a different first name or just refer to him as 'Father' or, in spirit of some upper class attitudes, 'Daddy'. Canoncially, only the first term 'Father' is used.
