What a funny little story! Spock is being attacked by some horrible monster or animal with “rending claws that were ripping the flesh from the backs of his legs.” The entire first page is a long paragraph detailing the attack and Spock’s desperate attempts to evade it. Finally, he gathers his strength to jump away, and lands on the “ground/deck” and crawls rapidly away “across the grass/carpet.”

Seems he has been dreaming, having a nightmare in the bed he shares with his captain, and now he’s down on the floor with Jim peering anxiously down at him. What was wrong?

Well, you see, Jim hasn’t cut his toenails in too long, and he was restless in his sleep, cutting into the skin of Spock’s shins. Kirk looks down at his feet, thinking “So that was the reason his socks were beginning to get holes in the toes.” I howled.

This is a good example of a silly story based on natural intimacy. This is exactly the sort of thing that would happen to Kirk and Spock if they start sleeping together. Yes, wonderful ecstasy and mind-boggling sex, but it’s nice if your lover also brushes his teeth and cuts his toenails! I really like this story.
