Hatsune Miku/Kasane Teto is the pairing of Kasane Teto and Hatsune Miku in the Vocaloid and UTAU fandoms.

Canon

Both Teto and Miku are vocal synthesizer characters made to sing. While Miku is a Vocaloid developed by Crypton Future Media, Teto is an UTAU that was created as an April Fool's joke, where the goal was to try to trick people into thinking that she was going to be a new Vocaloid from Crypton Future Media. Despite Teto's origins, she proved to be impactful to both the Vocaloid and UTAU communities, which earned her an official Synthesizer V voicebank release, as well as an appearance in the official Vocaloid game, Project Diva.

Like all vocal synths, Miku and Teto do not have an official relationship, so that it may be portrayed whatever way suits the song they're singing together.

Within Project VOLTAGE, an official collaboration between Hatsune Miku and Pokemon, Teto is given a design which heavily parallels Psychic-type Trainer Miku. She is stated to be a rival -- presumably to the previously-mentioned Psychic Trainer iteration of Miku.[1] A duet between the two, Facade Question, was also released as a part of this collaboration.

Fanon and Tropes

Many fandom portrayals play off of the fact that Miku and Teto are the most popular characters from their respective rival companies. This can range from one of them being a fan of the other, to jealous of the other, to rivals (friendly or less-than-friendly). In particular, it is popular to portray Teto as being jealous of, or aspiring to be like, Miku[2] -- a trend which arguably began with the popular Kasane Teto song, Kasane Territory.

This said, others like to portray Teto and Miku being good friends with no rivalry involved, or in another way, depending on if the portrayal is based off of a specific song.

Notable Fanac

Since 2019, some fans of the pairing have taken to celebrating it on June 16th, calling this "NegiDrill Day".[3] This date was chosen due to it being perfectly in between Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto's birthdays.
