Kasane Teto (重音テト) is a popular vocal synth. She is the human avatar of a piece of virtual singing software whose vocals were provided by Oyamano Mayo. She is the most well-know UTAUloid or Synthesizer V character, and has a notable fandom following.

Despite being initially created as a hoax for the April Fool's of 2008, Kasane Teto was later actually produced as an UTAU voicebank. She had been a fan-favorite as an UTAUloid, but her popularity reached new heights after her 2023 commercial SynthV release, announced shortly after her 15th anniversary.

History

Due to the rising popularity of Hatsune Miku, Vip News Bulletin@2ch users (nicknamed "Vippers") put together a troll "new Vocaloid release" for April Fool's. Sen provided the rough sketch, and Nobuyo Oyama (a name which is a spoof for Doraemon's former voice actress, Nobuyo Oyama) provided the vocals. However, the project continued well after the April Fool's prank was over, and her vocals were later recorded for a second time for use with UTAU: a vocal synthesis software which had released two months earlier.

Songs

As a vocal synthesizer, Kasane Teto is most often used to create music, although she is also the subject of many cosplays, pieces of fanart, and more.

While most producers today use Teto's SynthV voicebank, many of the most iconic Teto songs use her UTAU voicebank. Some people also still choose to use the UTAU voicebank over SynthV, to this day! Popular songs which were made using Kasane Teto's UTAU voicebank include:

That said, since her SynthV voicebank's release, Teto has seen a lot more usage, and most modern releases use this voicebank for her. Popular songs which were made using Kasane Teto's SynthV voicebank include:
