Mikrokosmos Approaches is a "50% profit + 50% charity" crossover fanzine featuring BTS in the world of Genshin Impact.

About

The project was announced on Twitter on February 9, 2021. Mod applications ran from February 12-19, 2021. The interest check ran from February 25, 2021 to March 12, 2021. Contributor applications opened March 19, 2021, with a planned end date of May 7, 2021, but were later extended to May 14, 2021. At least 16 writer applications and at least 95 total applications were received.

An "official statement" "in light of recent events" was issued February 11, 2021. Soon afterward, the account stated that it had wiped its Twitter and curiouscat "to avoid misinformation".

On March 24, 2021, an announcement was made regarding mod Volya, who had "caused a lot of issues within other zine communities as well as our own," stepping down from the project.

On February 15, 2021, it was announced that the zine would be a for-profit one. This changed on March 27, 2021, a few days after the departure of mod Volya, when it was announced that the zine would be 50% profit and 50% charity, following the results of a Twitter poll with 73 total votes.

On March 30, 2021, the rebranding as Mikrokosmos Approaches was announced.

Preorders opened on October 22, 2021 with a planned end date of December 17, 2021, which was later extended to January 22, 2022. The following pricing tiers were offered:

• Star Genesis (£10/$14 USD): Digital Zine + Digital Merch
• Archaic Star (£20/$27 USD): Physical Zine + Bookmark
• Whalien Star (£25/$34 USD): Physical Zine + Bookmark + Sticker Sheet + Stickers + Prints
• Universal Starglitter (£35/$48 USD): Physical Zine + Bookmark + Sticker Sheet + Stickers + Prints + Charms + Button + Digital Bundle

For December 25, 2021, orders were discounted by 10% with code 160itto7. After the preorder period closed, the digital bundle remained purchaseable.

Two stretch goals for which all physical orders were eligible were included in the project: a wooden pin at 50 orders, and an OT7 photocard set at 100 orders. Neither stretch goal was achieved. As of January 18, 2022, the first stretch goal was 17 orders away.

During the prorder period, there was a giveaway of a digital bundle, a Welkin Moon (a 30-day Genshin Impact in-game paid currency subscription), and £12.99 of Genesis crystals (a type of Genshin Impact in-game paid currency).

On April 1, 2021, the zine Twitter account was temporarily 'taken over' by hilichurls (a type of humanoid monster in Genshin Impact) in a series of tweets.

On June 24, 2022, an announcement was made involving shipping price increases and needing extra money if the zines need tracked shipping.

Leftover sales opened July 28, 2022 and closed October 2, 2022.

As of February 14, 2023, no further posts have been made on the zine account, including no mention of any charitable donation being made.
