Mikage Souji/Mamiya Chida is the pairing of Mikage Souji and Mamiya Chida in the Revolutionary Girl Utena fandom. Both characters resemble genderbent versions of Utena Tenjou and Anthy Himemiya.
In the anime, Mamiya is actually a disguised Anthy Himemiya, the real Mamiya Chida having died long ago. Akio had Anthy pose as Mamiya to manipulate Mikage, whose former self Professor Nemuro had feelings for Mamiya's sister Tokiko. However, translations suggest that the real Mamiya had feelings for Nemuro. [1]
In the manga, Tokiko does not exist, and Mamiya is a male student who was in a relationship with Professor Nemuro. Mamiya perished in the fire at Nemuro Memorial Hall long ago, but thanks to Akio/Dios's magic, he and Mikage were frozen in time, believing themselves to be living on as they tried to seek a cure for Mamiya's illness. When Utena defeats Mikage in a duel, he and Mamiya are finally able to move on to the afterlife.
Fandom
While the pairing is popular, some fans find the way it was handled in the anime unsatisfying due to the bait and switch of Mamiya having been a disguised Anthy all along.
