Mibba is a creative writing website, founded in 2006. It is home to fanfiction, RPF, and original fiction alike, as well as providing message boards, blogs, and many other interactive features for website members.

It was relatively under the radar for the first couple of years of its existence; but after Quizilla's 2008 changes, many former Quizilla users migrated over to Mibba. Part of the appeal was that both websites were similar in being fanfiction and RPF-friendly, as well as having usable message boards. The most significant difference was that Mibba did not have quizzes, though most of Quizilla's migrants were creative writers, and had only used Quizilla for that purpose.

Mibba remains a relatively lesser-known site, despite being well-run. This may be due to its demographic, which largely appears to be geared towards kids and young people, like Quizilla was. Its purpose seems to aim to help young people practice their writing skills. As of 2017, there are presently a little over 1000 active members.

Fandoms

Mibba appears to have representatives from many different fandoms, such as kpop, bandom, One Direction, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Twilight, and X-Men.

There is an especially notable Frerard community.

Criticisms of the Website

Due to its ability to members-lock fics, many stories from other websites are crossposted and plagiarized on Mibba.

Additionally, because the website emphasizes so much about having "quality" writing, other writers tend to feel pressured to write and post in conventional ways, taking away some of their creativity lest their "unqualified" stories get reported. Others feel that there may not be enough weeding out for them to find good fic.

I've had enough of Mibba if I'm being honest; and until editors get some actual power to do things on there I'll only be posting ONE more update on each story so everyone is aware of what I'm doing. [...]

The reason for this is because within the last week, this story alone has been reported three times, by that stupid, small number of people who think a script isn't a 'proper story'. Another of my stories has been reported and I've, over the years, had many PMs and comments telling me the 'correct' way to write.

I'm not breaking any rules, yet I always have to explain myself to people who are...well, close minded and not willing to accept something different.[1]

I hate Mibba because there is no semblance of organization. At all. Plus, and no offense to frerard, but it's hard to swim through 6 billion frerard stories when that's not what you want. And of course, the disclaimer that states "not fanfiction!" wtf?[2]

Positives of the Website

Dedicated members to the website enjoy its tight-knit community and focus on writing improvement, as feedback and discussion are important parts of the website.

I've seen other writing sites, like LJ, but nothing of this depth and closeness. Mibba is just so friendly and there's so much to do and someone to talk to at all times. It's honestly just... different. Like a giant family. :)[3]

Livejournal is sorta the same, but I think Mibba's the only [successful] site of it's kind whereby it was actually created for stories/poems. I think Livejournal just started out as like a journal online then people started to use it for stories&icons etc, 'cause we have more options here [subscribe, favourite authors etc] [4]

Overall Internet Presence

... but, generally, Mibba is largely unknown to anyone outside of its 1,000 members, or any of its ex-members. The website doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.
