merlin_the_elf was a Merlin/Arthur Secret Santa gift exchange. Sing-ups began on October 16, closed on October 21 and the fanworks were posted on December 21, 2008. The names of the creators were revealed on January 2, 2009.[1]
Rules: "This is a Secret Santa-style fanworks exchange: you create a fanwork (fic, wallpapers, vids etc etc) for a randomly-assigned member of the challenge, and on December 21, you receive a gift created for you by yet another member. If you hadn't already noticed, we're focusing on the awesomeness that is the Merlin/Arthur 'ship! Well, who wouldn't want a lovely dose of slash at Christmas?"[2]
