Meat Knife, designated by the slab of meat and knife emojis 🥩🔪, is an ideology that began on Twitter which is similar to the ideology of antishippers (or just "antis").[1][2] Those who adhere to the meat knife ideologies are referred to as "meat knives." In general, meat knives believe fiction can affect reality in the same way that antishippers do, but may or may not call themselves antishippers. The term meat knife began in the 2020 Hannibal fandom of Twitter as a counter-movement to the rainbow meaties, who believe fiction doesn't affect reality.

History

It's currently unknown who began the meat knife countermovement, though the opposing rainbow meat movement's beginnings have been clearly documented. According to a meta piece by partiallyvoidmostlystars in Oct 2020 Tumblr (see The Hannibal Twitter Takedown of 2020), a Twitter user named callmenephila created the rainbow meat movement for the 2019 #JustFuckMeUpFest. But partiallyvoidmostlystars's meta piece is less definitive on who came up with meat knife, instead stating that it was the rainbow meaties themselves who dubbed the anti's as meat knives. Though, they also stated the meat knives were using the emoji sets before they received the "meat knife" designation in writing. And then, according to Twitter user gaymiens, some rainbow meaties have attempted to re-claim the meat knife emojis, meaning some who use the emoji sets may not be actual meat knife antishippers.[3]

The “antis” have been nicknamed “meat knives/knifes” by rms due to the use of the knife and steak emojis.

Beliefs

Meat knives are akin to antishippers, with art of certain dark, edgy, or "problematic" content being in distaste to them. While rainbow meaties approve of and support the creation of art that may even include non-con, zoophilia, and minor/adult ships (see Minors in Fandom and Underage) content, meat knives do not. However, because meat knives are specific to the Hannibal fandom, the themes that they tolerate may be wider in range than some of the antishipper beliefs others may consider extreme. For example, Hannibal includes cannibalism, emotional manipulation, violent gore, and murder as main themes. Meat knives, who would be fans of the show, thus at least tolerate these dark "problematic" themes as literary plots, though they would not approve or support such things in the real world.

so basically like, for clarification meat knife + they're in the hannibal nbc fandom = probably safe, check their bio to see if they're a pr*shipper 'trying to reclaim the emojies'. meat knife (or knife meat) means anti-rainb*w meatie
