Star Trek the original version was the first sci fi show I was a dedicated fan of back in the sixties the first time around. Fandom and making friends because of a film or TV show is kinda new for me and started really with Lord of the Rings after Fellowship came out and I discovered all these lovely lists and communities full of people who were as obsessed as I was. I shifted from there to SGA. Something has to really catch my attention to get me into a fandom.
[My favorite thing about]: About SGA the show. The concept, the idea that a bunch of scantily prepared civilians lead by a civilian can venture into another galaxy on the strength of a legend. The other thing I enjoy most is the one and only Dr Rodney McKay. He's a more polite version of my own thesis advisor and he's human, they're all human and that's what makes them almost real. About the fandom. I exist on the fringes mostly but the thing I like is the friends I've made, some of whom will probably remain friends long after the show is over, although obviously I'd rather that wasn't for a long time yet.
