Max/Victoria, also know as Chasefield, is a femslash pairing in the Life is Strange fandom between Max Caulfield and Victoria Chase.

Canon

Max and Victoria are both students at Blackwell studying photography. The two have an antagonistic relationship in which Victoria looks down on Max for being a retro0loving hipster type and Max feeling that Victoria is a stereotypical school bully. Their relationship can improve or become even worse over the course of the game depending on player choice.

Fandom

After the first episode of Life is Strange was released Max/Victoria quickly became a popular ship due to their shared interest in photography, and one of the key choices in that episode revolving around how Max treats Victoria after she is hit with paint. The fandom initially took to calling giving them the ship name of Maximum Victory as a pun on both their first names, however Chasefield became more commonly used over time as it matched other pairing names such as Pricefield and Grahamscott. In the early day of the fandom there were often minor ship wars between Max/Victoria and Max/Chloe shippers.

Common tropes include:

  • Alt-timeline - episode 3 showed an alternate timeline in which Max was popular and friends with Victoria.
  • Photo-shoots - Since they are both photographers, fanworks often have them on shoots together or scouting for locations.
