Marrish or Jordia is the het relationship between Lydia Martin and Jordan Parrish on the television show Teen Wolf. Shipping of Lydia and Jordan really took off towards the end of season 4 due to increased interaction between the two characters.
Canon
During season 4, Lydia and Jordan began to interact more due to their connection to the supernatural. Over season 4 and 5, romantic feelings began to bubble up on both sides, but neither person made a move to make their feelings known/official. During season 6, Lydia began dating Stiles Stilinski, which shut down future options of a romantic relationship with Jordan. They remain close friends and are willing to sacrifice themselves for each other.
Fandom
As previously mentioned, shipping of Lydia and Jordan started to pick up steam towards the end of season 4 and really hit its prime during season 5 of the show. During that time, Lydia was aged up by the show, making her eighteen and therefore of legal age. Many fans took this as a sign that Marrish was going to become canon. In the end, however, Marrish was abandoned by the show writers for Stiles and Lydia to get together, which many fans found unexpected and downright disheartening. Ajeepandleather on Tumblr described the whole situation as such: "Oh hecky dizzle yes!!! This ship had so much growth and chemistry and I loved the jail cell scene with the whole bonding over being “harbingers of death”. I was pissed when this ship was dropped like a hot potato because it had so much potential and I was always a fan."[1]
On the other hand, there were a lot of fans that were happy that Marrish never became canon as they thought that the age difference was too much. Jordan is established as being at least 24 years old, and Lydia had only turned 18 during season 4. Many people find it creepy and predatory that a 24 year old man would become romantically involved with someone who had just turned 18. Stilesssolo on Tumblr states, "I just don't like the idea of them (Lydia and Jordan) being romantically involved because he is 25+ and she is barely 18."[2] Another user, karazrel, went further and said "if your only defense for the ship [Marrish] is that lydia turned 18 three secs before p/rrish started having wet dreams about her it isnt really a defense".[3]
