Mapping the LOONAverse is a fan project created by caskerbox that aims to create a "cinematic map" of the Loonaverse, the fictional universe of the K-Pop girl group LOONA. The series is split into four videos, though currently incomplete, so far illustrates from Heejin's debut to Odd Eye Circle.
The videos illustrates the interconnections between LOONA's music videos, storylines, and members, presenting them as geographic map.
Project Overview
Each video in the series is structured to build the map progressively, based upon the different subunits (i.e LOONA 1/3 and Odd Eye Circle). The video is interspersed with clips from LOONA's music videos. Illustrations representing various elements from the videos begin to fade in, creating new sections of the map. Each sub-unit receives a new continent or territory.
Lines are drawn connecting different music video elements, similar to how subway maps connect stations. This represents the interactions between members.
you're right on the sub-unit, they will each get a continent, and the interactions between the members will be connected across the continents, kinda like a huge subway map... haha[2]
Creation Process
Some aspects of the map creation were live-streamed on YouTube.[3]
This was probably the toughest one so far with loona's debut and my crazy new work schedule, I think I spent total ~80 hours on it haha Hope you guys enjoy! now I can go make some shorter fun videos...[4]
Reception
Fans have praised the creativity, detail of the maps, with some expressing a desire for physical versions of the completed map.
The vid was linked on a Forbes article discussing the Loonaverse.[5]
From Part 1

This is the coolest, most creative and beautiful thing I've ever seen. IN MY LIFE. It's incredible, and so well done. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, i'm in awe. You are a GOD in this fandom. Thank you so much, can't wait for part two!![8]

This is amazing, you are amazing. I feel like this is a part of your soul that you're showing us and I feel so honored that I get to watch your work.
Radwimps summons up the bittersweetness of Your Name, makes my heart kind of ache...
The Loonaverse only gets more complicated from here on. Each unit, as I understand it, inhabit a different universe, perhaps a different island in your analogy. Yet some members will traverse between these islands. It will be very interesting to see how you depict these events.
Once again, love your work. You are amazing :)[9]

Okay, I think this "Mapping the LOONAverse" series might have just snatched me to Orbit fandom besides my main which is my ultimate fandom for 8 years. None other groups, (not to mention fanworks) have made me this interested. This work needs more than a standing ovation. One word: Masterpiece.[12]
