Reactions and Reviews
1997
Nice emotional mood. Important and touchy treaty negotiations and socializing with hosts who burp after meals to express their appreciation. Spock can do this easily but Kirk has trouble burping on command, so Spock helps him—they hold hands for the mental contact necessary, and are thus thought by the hosts to be a couple, and a couple they really respect, too. We're shown really nice private thoughts by both of them on this subject. But the asshole Acting Admiral thinks the idea is aberrant and abhorrent, and it goes from there. In a meld toward the end, Ayelborne made a rather inexplicable appearance. But everything is resolved nicely.[1]
