Magic's Heart is a Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan story by Rushlight. It was originally published in the "Force of a Different Color" zine in May 2002.
Summary: A romantic interlude in the "Magician's Apprentice" universe.

This is a romantic stand-alone piece set in the The Magician's Apprentice universe which I also recommend reading. Rushlight is a wonderful story teller and this interlude piece as she calls it, is a taste of the larger story you’ll find in the novella. It’s easy to see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in this alternate reality of sorcery and dragons.Excerpt:
It had seemed so simple when he'd first come to Abaddon in search of a Master to train him in the ways of Magic. He'd had the talent from a very young age, and being the headstrong young man that he was, it hadn't seemed worthwhile to be trained by anyone other than the very best. And so he'd come here to the capital in search of the legendary Qui-Gon Jinn, Master of the Mages of Abaddon and personal advisor to the King. Much to his surprise and delight, Master Jinn had agreed to teach him.[1]
