MSNBC is a 24 hour cable news channel which began as a partnership between Microsoft (MS) and NBC News (NBC). Though Microsoft sold their share of the channel to NBC Universal in 2005, they still retain a 50% interest in the web portal, http://www.msnbc.com. On January 18, 2011, the FCC approved a merger of cable company Comcast and MSNBC parent company NBC Universal.[1]
