Lyonesse is a 144-page novel by Janet Ellicott inspired by Arthurian Legend. It is part of the series "The Future King." The title refers to the land of Lyonesse; it should not be confused with Lyonesse, the wife of Sir Gareth in medieval Arthurian literature.

Synopsis

"Damien Thorenson didn't like being overshadowed by a king with fifteen centuries of legends behind him. He decides to carry out one major magical deed, the raising of Lyonesse from its watery grave. But it will take a great deal of power to do such a thing, the power of the ancient blood which flows through the veins of King Arthur's heirs. Arthur and Thomas, together with Stephen and Galahad, soon find themselves the prisoners of a cruel, omnipotent man, while the King ventures where no other man in twentieth century Britain dares and raises a private army to rescue them."

Setting and Content

"The Future King" series is set in the late 20th and early 21st century, in a world very similar to our own, but where King Arthur and his knights have woken from their long sleep. The author notes that this series is largely Gen with some very mild heterosexual scenes. However, since there is some homosexual non-consensual sex in some issues, the whole series is classified as adult.
