From the Editorial

Hello my zine reading sisters.

... I find I'm able to sympathize far more strongly with those wonderful women who publish our treasured reading material, Zines. This blank page that I'm hoping will become an introduction is sitting here leering at me. It's absolutely awe inspiring. And they have to write an editorial or introduction with every zine. I'll start writing and see what comes out.

I am almost strictly Kirk/Spock, but over the years a couple of of her programs have triggered my imagination just a little. A small, short response, comparatively speaking. I've written over fifty stories about Classic Trek. Here in your hands is the complete extent of what The Beauty and the Beast, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Simon and Simon, have stirred in my imagination. Included are also a couple of Star Trek based stories that editors didn't think had enough Kirk and Spock in them to qualify them for a K/S zine.

I sincerely hope you will derive as much pleasure from reading my stories as I did from writing them. For those of you who are hovering on the brink, trying to decide if you should attempt to write something, I urge you. Do it! I didn't start to write until after we retired, eight years ago. If I'd had any idea of the pleasure, the fun, the sheer fascination of creating a story, I would never have fought the urge to give it a try for so long.

There is one thing more. You've heard of the elephants that work for peanuts? So far I'm working for LOC's. Preferably favorable ones. Many readers seem to feel they must write a practically professional review, or they shouldn't comment at all. I can assure you, that isn't necessary. A personal friend who reads all my stories has evolved what I feel is a great way of giving me her opinion with a minimum amount of time and effort on her part. She made up the following enjoyment scale for me:

10=Bravo! Bravo! Author!
9=Excellent
8=A Good read
7=Fair
6=Needs more work
5=Poor
4=waste of time
3=Bird or hamster cage lining
2=Suggest you read more
1=Stick to bingo

She has also thrilled me with an occasional rating of 11, and a small sprinkling of 12's. Those leave a glow that lasts for days. As you can see, a post card with the name of the story and your choice of a number won't take much of your time. I would appreciate your enjoyment evaluations and opinions so very much. Please, consider sending me a note with a number.

My sincerest appreciation to Emily Adams for being willing to use her editorial abilities to produce this zine. She said it was fun. I hope she derives more than 'fun' for all her work. I also appreciate the contributions of my artists. Deeb and Kathleen Maureen. There's nothing like good art to enhance a zine.

Although I've never met you, I still feel affection and kinship for all my fellow Trek Sisters, in whichever state or country they are to be found. I hope our numbers increase. May you all live long and prosper.
