Love Quadrangle is a writing trope where four people are vying for a romantic relationship. This may take a form very close to a love triangle, where "three people vie for the love of a fourth"[1], but sometimes it can be more complicated.
[Urban Dictionary's illustrated of the complexity of the love quadrangle]
A person falling in love with another, however that “other” likes someone’s who isn’t them. Which that person likes another person. And yet that person has a crush on someone else, which that someone else happens to like the first person.[2]
Perhaps because of its complex nature its use is fairly rare.
Closely related and much more common in recent times: The Love Square trope in which the two people vying for a romantic relationship are, in fact, two people with several secret identities.
