You may be looking for Lost Without Each Other Trilogy.

Lost Without Each Other is a Hanson fanfic by KT. It was written in 2016/17 and centers around the relationship between Zac and an original female character named Phoebe, as well as her friendship with Taylor.

Phoebe is a musician in her own right, having met Taylor at piano lessons when both were young. Her friendship with him helps her to cope with the loss of her father and brother in a car accident, and she eventually begins a relationship with Zac. The story's back and forth structure shows how their relationship grew, ended and briefly resumed years later.

The story is the first in a series titled Every Word I Say, which features a handful of other oneshots that explore other possibilities for the fic's characters.

Reactions and Reviews

I usually roll my eyes at stories that feature characters like Phoebe, the childhood friend of Hanson who grew up to be by their side through everything, including creating music with them. The difference, though, is that KT is a musician herself and knows how to write that side of things believably. While Hanson praise Phoebe’s talents and she’s a hit with the fans, she’s also just an ordinary girl, playing in coffee shops and never quite catching her big break. A fan refers to her as “one of us,” but more than that, she’s a character like me–one who won’t compromise her principles, even for a relationship with Zac Hanson.[1]

This story actually did good with portraying the realness of each character and while I get Phoebe and Zac’s chemistry and that not everything is black and white I was still glad KT didn’t make Kate a bitch to make the cheating happen because that kind of gets old(coming from someone who has done just that more than once).

Instead KT drew on Zac and Phoebe’s shared history and the what-if’s their break up brought to do the cheating angle and it made much more realistic than the bitchy wife angle does at times. It also made it a bit easier to be somewhat sympathetic to Phoebe’s character as a whole, especially with the past scenes woven into most chapters.[2]
