Summary

An alternate universe novel, Lord James Ellison, shapeshifter and Sentinel, is a force to be reckoned with. He needs a Mate, one to bond with him. He has no one and he needs a Guide, someone to calm the panther within the man. When a new slave is brought before him, Lord Ellison is instantly taken with Blair, a young man who had only the day before been sold into slavery by his mother. Lord Ellison takes the slave as his Consort, and soon learns that life, and love, is anything but easy when the heart is involved. A prophesy by a Seer declares that the Sentinel's Mate will give birth to an heir to the kingdom, and Lord Ellison discovers that his love is a L'carindar, a male able to bear children. Shapeshifter Ellison is ecstatic that he and his Mate will have a child, until he learns that he must impregnate Blair in his panther form.
