Lin-Manuel Miranda has performed poetry, hip-hop, and rap to many audiences, including at the US White House. He wrote the Broadway musicals In The Heights and Hamilton, for which he won Tony Awards in 2008 and 2016, respectively. He co-wrote the musical Bring It On: The Musical.

Miranda also composed the music for the cantina scene in the 2015 Star Wars sequel The Force Awakens, the music and lyrics for the Disney films Moana & Encanto, and starred in the Mary Poppins sequel "Mary Poppins Returns" in 2018.

Miranda has been very fan-friendly, engaging on Twitter and other social media. He was active on Tumblr for a time, getting involved in discussions about Bootlegs, before leaving the platform.

In 2015, Hamilton - Miranda (Broadway Cast) RPF and related fandoms became a thing.

At some point after his departure for Tumblr fan opinion of Miranda shifted somewhat, and many consider him cringe.
