Library Tapes is a gen Star Trek: TOS fiction anthology with three issues.
It was published in the UK.
A fan in 1989 described the series: "A strange mixture of very good stories and indifferent, rather pointless ones." [1]
Issue 1
Library Tapes 1 (called "001") contains 58 pages. Its content was reprinted in Memory Recall.
- The First Step by Martin Smith
- The Price of Survival by Karen Maund
- Reaching by S. Meek
- The Star of Evron by Fran Ball
- More Tribblations? by S. Meek
Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1
I like Promotion by Fran Ball and The First Step by Martin Smith, both in #001. In Promotion, Spock and Chris Pike build up a friendship, but Spock is devastated when Pike accepts promotion. The First Step is a Mirror Universe story of how Spock starts to change things. [2]
Issue 2
Library Tapes 2 (called "002") was published in 1980 and contains 74 pages. It contains a few small illos by an uncredited artist.
"This zine is dedicated to our intrepid printers, without whose sincere dedication to their work would leave many pubs bankrupt! Thanks lads and lasses!!!"
- The Lazarus Confrontation by Karen Maund (1)
- What A Drag by Margaret Richardson (34)
- Hidden by Katy Deery (37)
- Miri by Katy Deery (37)
- Melagon III by Julie Emms (38)
- Alone by Katy Deery (41)
- The Strange Master by Martin Smith (42)
Reactions and Reviews: Issue 2
In #002, I enjoyed The Lazarus Confrontation by Karen Kaund and The Strange Master also by Martin Smith. The Lazarus Confrontation is well thought out and written and, like all of Karen's stories, has Chekov as the main character. The scene is set after The Alternative Factor when alternative Universe counterparts of people who have died reappear. We also meet the alternative Universe Constellation. The Strange Master is an interesting idea where the Enterprise inadvertently damages a huge alien ship. The crews share an exchange of information and help one another with their respective difficulties. [3]
Issue 3
Library Tapes 3 (called "003") was published before 1982.
The stories by Kate Lach were reprinted in Tsaela Collected.
- Distress Call by Kate Lach
- The Biggest Little People by Kate Lach
- other unknown content by other authors
