Kristine Wiliams is a very early and influential Sentinel fan fiction writer, one of the first to have posted her fanworks to the Internet. Her fiction was posted sometime prior to January 1997, which was sometime in the first season.

Starting in May 1997, these stories were published in the print zine A Sentinel's Guide. Four of her first were also published in Concrete Jungle.

Many, many of the fans interviewed at The Cascade Library cite her as the first Sentinel fanfic they'd read and credit her with sparking their interest in the fandom. See Category: Interviews by Fans.

One of the very first Sentinel writers, and definitely one of the best writers in the fandom, is Kristine Williams. Full of friendship, partnership, solid characterization, hurt/comfort, adventure, and mystery, her stories are not to be missed. As her stories are meant to be read as a series, it is impossible to recommend only a few for reading, though I do have favorites - Legend (Jim and Blair go on a short trip to pick up the body of a Rainier student, but then it turns out to be something a little more), The Game (the second Brackett story - Blair is injected with a particularly nasty drug), Choices (Jim decides it's time to get a solid commitment to their partnership out of Blair - one way or another - a non-case story), Shadow of a Doubt (the third Brackett story - Brackett goes on trial), ChinaWhite (drug smuggling at the University and some nasty complications of cocaine exposure for Jim) and her wonderful Blind Man's Bluff missing scene, Recovery. [1]

As a brand-new reader of Sentinel fanfic, I read Kristine Williams' stories first, and I was hooked! There wasn't a single one that was less than excellent! Her writing skill is obvious, and the stories have a great combination of plot, h/c, action, and a little smarm here, a little angst there. As for my favorites, I have to include Avalanche, The Game, and Scapegoat, as well as her Blind Man's Bluff missing scene, Recovery. I would consider them an absolute must for any new reader, but don't start unless you have a free week, because you'll want to read them all very quickly. [2]

Everything by Kris Williams is worth the time. Her stories are friendship stories within the framework of a case or situation. She has well-written believable characterization, with some Blair-owies. [3]

So I guess it was either late 1st or early 2nd season I started surfing the net to see who the guy who played Blair was, what this show was really about, and whatever else I could dig up. Then, lo and behold, I discovered fanfic. Course, at the time I thought writing stories about shows was really odd, but I decided to try it out anyway. I think what hooked me was, as everyone else seems to be testifying as well, Kristine Williams. I *loved* her stuff and after some more stumbling around I discovered GuidePosts, which was actually quite small at the time. [4]

My initiation into Sentinel fanfic began in Oct of '97 when our school hooked up to the Net. I knew absolutely nothing about it, and a fellow teacher had to show me how to operate things. One day I stayed to put grades on the computer, hopped over to the Net, typed in "The Sentinel," and found references to fanfic. My first stop was a slash sight, and I nearly fell out of my chair (hey, I'd never heard of the stuff, let alone thought anyone was writing it about my guys--I'm more laid back now <g>). After a few more attempts I found.....ta-da! Kris Williams! I read a bit...then a bit more...then looked at the clock. It was almost 9:00pm. After that, I always seemed to have grades to enter long after the other teachers had gone for the day. I stumbled across Guide Posts, and soon was carting in my own paper to print stories---there were about 350 at the time. No, I didn't print ALL of them (said she who had to buy a filing cabinet), just a LOT of them. [5]

I didn't know a lot about computers. I learn things by experimenting so I logged on to the net and started searching. I always love watching Tv. I search something on Tv and found a whole listen of Tv shows. I saw something that said fanfic and being the curious person I am, I click on it. I went straight to the S because I love Silk Stalking. Read a few of them. Then I saw something that said The Sentinel. I told myself I never seen that show before. I click on none other then. Can you Guess................................ Kristine Williams. I read all her stories, Then on to wolfpups den. I had to find out what this show was about. [6]

I think I have all the good parts of Kristine's memorizes...probably cause I have them printed out. <g> [7]

Her Sentinel Fiction

From her fiction page: "These stories were not written independently of each other, and should be read in order."

  • A Test -- Jim attacks Blair for no apparent reason, then has no memory of the occurrence. In the face of this mystery, he must trust himself and his partner long enough to find the source of this unexplained loss of control, before it's too late.
  • Victims -- Sandburg, Darryl and the wife of another officer are taken hostage by three men determined to win their cousin's release from prison. Since the case is personal, Ellison, Captain Banks, and Detective Mike Jenkins are removed from the negotiations. Jim is forced to rely on his still-uncertain Sentinel senses, and the resourcefulness of his captive partner.
  • Avalanche -- A much-needed ski vacation suddenly meets with tragedy as an avalanche traps the inhabitants of a small ski lodge in the Cascade mountains, injuring several skiers and claiming one life. But the problems don't end when the snow comes to rest...it would seem the victim was murdered before the snow began to roll, and Sandburg may be the only witness.
  • Scapegoat -- When a professor is murdered, all evidence points to Sandburg as the killer. Banned from the investigation, he's forced to rely on Jim to clear his name, and save their friendship.
  • Retribution -- Lee Brackett returns, having escaped from Federal custody, to seek his revenge on Jim and Blair. Kidnapped, chained to Blair, and lost ... Jim must fight to control his Sentinel abilities in order to use them against a ruthless, and cunning adversary.
  • Legend -- Jim accompanies Blair to a small research station in the San Juan Islands when his partner is asked by the University to retrieve the body of one of his students who was killed in a diving accident. What he finds when he arrives suggests the young woman was murdered.
  • The Game -- During a routine investigation, Jim is again confronted by his adversary - Lee Brackett. Only this time, the rogue agent is targeting Jim's friendship with Sandburg. Using the younger man as a decoy, Brackett hopes to insure Ellison's distraction, long enough to complete his own agenda.
  • Steal -- Going undercover as a Safecracker has its advantages, when the suspects are drop-dead gorgeous. But when Jim's senses take control during the heists, causing him to zone-out at dangerous times, he's forced to rely completely on his new partner in crime - Blair Sandburg. Cypher fill-in scene
  • Cypher -- Fill-in scene to The Sentinel episode #105, Cypher. For a more detailed version of this episode's only missing link, I suggest Michalina Pilcher's Cypher-Missing Scene.
  • Babylon -- While investigating a suicide in a high-rise building, Jim finds evidence to suggest the millionaire victim was murdered. When he and Sandburg become trapped inside, they have to work against time, and unseen obstacles, to escape the snare they've stumbled into.
  • Choices -- When Sandburg accidentally overhears Simon urging Jim to end the partnership, the uncertainty builds into something he can no longer hide. Sensing his partner's emotional stress, Jim arranges for them to take a weekend off - a weekend that forces both men to confront their fears.
  • Shadow of a Doubt -- Lee Brackett has been caught, and put on trial. When the stress of testifying puts a strain on Sandburg, Jim assures him nothing could possibly give this jury a reason not to convict. Only he can't stop Brackett from finding the one and only loophole that secures his temporary release. Knowing he's been targeted, Blair vanishes in order to protect Jim, putting them both in deadly jeopardy.
  • Recovery -- A missing scene to Blind Man's Bluff. Blair recovers in the hospital after having nearly killed every cop in the precinct while overdosed on Golden.
  • Mistake -- A routine body-guard assignment becomes a nightmare when Sandburg is mistaken for the man they're protecting.
  • Flashback -- An unplanned trip to Mexico ends in a plane crash that leaves Ellison and Sandburg struggling through a tangled jungle. Triggered by the similarity of the situation, Jim is haunted by memories of his crash in Peru and the deaths of his team members.
  • Target -- Jim saves Blair from a sniper's bullet, but when that bullet kills a female officer instead, both men find themselves targets in the Precinct. Someone takes that vengeance to deadly heights.
  • China White -- Much to his embarrassment, Blair becomes victim of a robbery at the University when artifacts he is unpacking are stolen for the cocaine hidden inside them. During the investigation, Jim is dangerously exposed to the drug and loses all control of his Sentinel senses, and his mind.
  • Adrift -- Desperate for some relief from the hot summer sun, Jim and Blair luck upon the weekend use of an old yacht. While relaxing in the Straits, their boat is struck and sunk by the carelessness of another, leaving them both adrift, and swimming for their lives.
  • Silent Thunder -- Blair's life is falling apart. He's irritable, exhausted, angry ... and his partner couldn't care less. Taken to the edge by his anger, he sees his partnership with Jim come to an end. When the unexplained twist of emotions spills out to the other occupants of the building, Jim begins to suspect a reason for it all.
  • The Hell Within -- An unexpected trip to Delhi to accompany Sandburg provides an excuse for Jim to look up and old army friend. But when that friend turns out to be a double agent, both men get more than they bargained for.
  • Forest in the Sky -- When Jim falls unexpectedly ill, Blair is left doubting his ability to protect his friend and properly guide him in the use of his Sentinel senses. When his supposed allergic reaction turns out to be poisoning, they quickly find there's a murder to prevent.
  • Blackout -- Blair returns from a conference in Toronto just in time to help Jim with a mafia case--a case that becomes more complicated after Sandburg shoots his partner in the Station bullpen.
  • A Fresh Perspective -- A short.
  • The Dancing -- Fearing he's about to lose Sandburg to his first mentor, Jim impulsively catches a flight to Borneo to surprise his friend. What surprises them both are the things they've left unsaid.
  • Crash (aka Thanks, Jim) -- A short.
  • Identity Crisis -- A short.
