Common Tropes in Fanworks

  • Katerina - despite the fact that she was introduced as Katherine Pierce, Elijah refers to and calls her Katerina, which is her real name, before she changed it after arriving in England. He is one of the few people who does it and the only one who does it consistently on the show. As a result, in canon fics (as well as in fics where her backstory is left relatively untouched), Elijah tends to call her Katerina.
