Sora x Kairi or SoKai is the Het pairing of Sora and Kairi from the Disney/Square Enix video game franchise Kingdom Hearts and its related media.
Background
Sora and Kairi have been friends ever since she arrived on Destiny Islands when they were both five years old, nine years before the beginning of Kingdom Hearts (2002).
Finding Kairi is one of Sora’s major goals in the first game, culminating in him temporarily sacrificing himself to return her heart to her body. Shortly after this, she gives Sora a lucky charm before he leaves and tells him to bring it back to her when he returns. After he defeats the final boss, she ends up stuck back on the islands as they reform out of the realm of darkness. Sora promises to come back to her someday before the restoration of Destiny Islands pulls them apart.
In the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II (2005), Kairi is the only person on Destiny Islands who remembers that Sora exists as a side effect of Sora’s memories being tampered with in Chain of Memories (2004), though she cannot recall his name or face until after a telepathic conversation with Roxas. Halfway through the game, Organization XIII kidnaps her to motivate Sora, and rescuing her becomes one of his goals in the second half of the game.
He returns her lucky charm to her when he and Riku return to Destiny Islands at the end of Kingdom Hearts II. However, after a letter arrives from King Mickey summoning him and Riku away again, she gives him the charm and tells him she’ll see him soon.

SoKai Day is observed annually on 17 September.[1]
Many SoKai shippers believe that the ship has already been confirmed as canon within the first three games of the series.
SoKai and SoRiku fans have clashed in the infamous, long-running SoKai vs SoRiku ship war, a dispute over which of the two most popular Sora ships is overall better and more supported by canon.
