Reactions and Reviews
1992
The K/S part of this was too abrupt and shallow for my taste, but I liked the musical discussion. I could believe that Kirk would have tried piano lessons as a child and given it up, and that he was now "almost embarrassed at the admission, the quitting.' It's also a believable and unique idea that Kirk would be eager to learn to play the Vulcan lyre. [1]
This is a predictable story in which Kirk and Spock discover their love while Spock is teaching Kirk to play the Vulcan lyre, i did wonder about what it was that Kirk and Spock felt when they said they were connected more deeply than Vulcan mind melds. The Fal-Tor-Pan shows that a meld can reach the soul or katra, and that is the very deepest part of someone's being. [2]
