Just Desserts is a Kirk/Spock story by Scott Hunter. The art is by Chris Soto.

It was published in the print zine First Time #46.

Summary

"Kirk and McCoy try to keep Spock in the dark about an award he is about to receive by telling him that they are on their way to Vulcan so McCoy can be presented an award"

Reactions and Reviews

I can't see a logical reason for all the subterfuge. Spock's nod at Kirk's remark that he'll have to find a good excuse to divert to Vulcan, implies to me that Spock is going to take shore leave on Vulcan.

If the recipient of such a prestigious award is a member of Starfleet, that organisation would've been notified with the request to make that member available for the ceremonies, which incidentally would've made Kirk's illusionary reason redundant.

It doesn't add up, the anniversary and the ceremony are not compatible in that format. Each can perfectly stand on its own but when you try to get them to intermix, that's where it clashes. [1]

Spock is to receive a science achievement award from the Vulcan Academy. Sarek (in an amusing typo—"Surak") asks Kirk to surprise Spock with the award by pretending to visit Vulcan to celebrate Amanda's Vulcan citizenship.

McCoy tells Kirk that the ship is abuzz with rumors of K/S. Interestingly, Kirk takes this in stride like McCoy said the crew was discussing the weather.

Anyway, Kirk tells McCoy, Uhura, and Scotty to keep it a secret from Spock for two weeks. His plan is to have the crew think he and Uhura are having a relationship. At one point, Spock overhears what he thinks is a sexual encounter between Kirk and Uhura. In an amusing scene, McCoy puts him on when asked about Kirk's strange behavior.

They continue the scheme until the Enterprise is diverted for a rescue mission. It's a little too complicated for no reason.

More shenanigans ensue and it turns out Spock knew all along. Which is kind of cliche, but cute. And once they confess their love for each other, there's no holding them back. Boy! Kirk sucks Spock and despite the brevity of any build-up, it's pretty hot. [2]
