Jonathan Byers is a fictional character from the Stranger Things television series, and is portrayed by Charlie Heaton.

Canon

In Stranger Things Season 1 Jonathan's younger brother, Will Byers goes missing. Jonathan and his mother, Joyce Byers, search for him. Jonathan works with Nancy Wheeler as well as Steve Harrington to rescue Will from the Demogorgon.

In Season 2, Jonathan helps Nancy expose Hawkins Lab, and helps his mother free Will from the Mind Flayer. Jonathan begins a relationship with Nancy.

In Season 3, Jonathan and Nancy start working together at the Hawkins Post. They face strain in their relationship when they are fired after Nancy pursues a story involving "diseased rats" linked to Will's possession from last year. Jonathan teams up with Nancy, Will, and his friends to stop the Mind Flayer from returning to Hawkins. In the process, Jonathan and Nancy reconcile. Three months later, Jonathan and his family moved out of Hawkins.
