In Campaign 2 of Critical Role, Jester has a very personal relationship with her diety, The Traveler. As The Traveler interacts with her on stream, the fandom has been exposed to their relationship at lenght.

Fandom

A lot of fans refer to The Traveler's actions and conversations with Jester as gaslighting, though other fans expressed positive feelings, saying they like the relationship.

i like their relationship, and i think there’s something very sweet about jester advocating for him, and i even like the narrative of “sometimes love is enough”. but the love they have for each other was never really in question, the question of whose divinity was being gifted to whom was, as well as just how much jester was and is being held back by her devotion to someone who doesn’t know how to live up to what she believes he can be, and quite literally can’t[1]

There is some discussion in fandom that Jester was initially supposed to be a warlock and that was the basis of her "pact" with Traveler, but the pure power of her belief in him, changed the kind of power she was getting from him into something more divine.
