The "Intro Vid (2011)" (or Introduction Vid 2011) was the opening vid at Vividcon's 2011 Premieres Vid Show. Intro vids are often overlooked by convention goers as their main purpose has traditionally been to ask the audience to refrain from disruptive behavior and to remind them to turn off their cell phones (or in pre-cell phone days to remind them to turn off their pagers and to refrain from throwing things at the screen).

The vid opens with the Vividcon 2002 Llama on screen and rapidly flips through the years to 2011. It then says: "For 10 years we have gathered to remember"..... followed by images of wonder and discovery, joy and excitement, all pulled from fanvids that had been previously shown at the convention, and then ends ...."what brings us together." It then segues with the following: "In 2011 we invite you once again...to turn of your cell phones...", thereby using the traditional vid show notifications to signal a shift from serious to light heartedness. The mood shifts again to conclude with: "Whether this is your 10th visit, or your very first, the show cannot go on without.... vidders, vidfans, fandom....you."

Reactions/Reviews

  • "The Intro Vid captures the con experience in a way I never would have thought possible. On a tech level, I also love the wonderful composition and clever connections all through." [1]
  • "This vid made me tear up and laugh and tear up again and then smile and smile and smile. It's a perfect emblem of this year's con and, for me, one of the highlights of Premieres; I love it like crazy, and I can already tell that it's going to be one of my go-to vids to watch when I need a hit of fandom love."[2]
  • "I've never even heard of Vividcon before, but that was amazing ..."[3]
  • "What an absolutely glorious celebration of VVC, vidders, fandom, and fen! It works on so many levels - the meld of emotion with message was seamless. Distilling down a fandom to a single clip is an impossible task - yet you did so again and again - and then to make each fandom flow into the next...it leaves me nearly lost for words. And oh, the clip choices and placement brought up so many memories. In particular, as a longtime fan, seeing Starsky & Hutch followed by Pros followed by Star Trek - three cornerstones of fandom....""[4]
