Spock and McCoy join forces to spring the Romulan Commander's son Var from custody on Starbase 10, enabling Kirk (whom Var managed to rescue though he lost his own crew) to keep his promise that Var would be exchanged without interrogation. But first they have to make sure Kirk himself can't be suspected of the jailbreak. Well-written adventure with nice characterization. [1]
