Maybe a different example?
I think creating a character page is a bit more tricky than described here and may discourage people because without prior experience they'll most likely get it wrong. Character pages are subpages of the main article (which means the page will most likely not be named correctly and other people will move it, which can feel like a bit of a failure) and writing about a character naturally leads to a lot of canon information which might steer a new user away from a focus on fannish content. Maybe it would be better to say they should pick their favorite story, explain the naming convention for single author fanworks, and let them try their hand at that?--Doro 06:38, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Using the search engine
Enter the character's name in the search engine, and, if there's no article about that character already
That's more difficult than it looks when you haven't used the search engine before. Maybe the instructions should mention that people should use the SEARCH button, not the GO button, because the page they are looking for might be named differently than what they typed into the search engine. A page about a story will have title and author but anyone looking for it will probably just type in the title.--Doro 06:38, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
