Help talk:Contents
Please add a section or link on: how to figure out what categories to put a page in. With extensive examples, so we're all on the same page [as it were]. - Msilverstar 18:14, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed! Especially since searching for "Categories" doesn't turn up the categories page! --Elfwreck 18:22, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Now it does. Redirects and disambiguation pages to fix the search failings -- Msilverstar 19:32, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- What I was looking for is in Fanlore:Categories, though it doesn't have nearly enough examples. I did link to it again in the text of this page. -- Msilverstar 19:32, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Temporary Step-by-Step Guide for Using Templates With Articles?
Is there any way a temporary how-to page can show up for certain types of articles? Aka How to Create a UserProfile page, with step by step instructions? I was going to do something similiar in my lj for people who are nervous about starting here, but I don't want to step on the wiki committee's toes if you already have something like that in the works. I think it would be encouraging for new users to be able to see the process from start to finish using the templates, because those do make everything easier. And it's a lot easier to learn how the wiki works when you are actively editing it. --Seperis 18:47, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Supplemental to the Above
- This isn't a criticism--I know this is still in beta and there are lots of other issues to work on, so it's just a suggestion. If no one minds, I could write a short tutorial on how I use templates to enter articles for now and post it to my lj until you write a better and more complete version. --Seperis 18:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Pairing Pages
I know I saw this months ago, but now I can't remember where: how do I create pairing subpages -- for eg., Angel/Spike as a subpage of Angel the Series rather than a subpage of Angel-the-character? This seems like something that'll come up a lot; can it go in the Help menu? -- Stultiloquentia
