Gundam Wing Addiction is a fanfiction and meta archive for Gundam Wing fanfiction. It also featured forums and mailing lists. As of September 2022, it contains works from 107 authors.
History
The website was launched sometime in February 2000. The last update is logged as having been posted in July of 2009. In August some fans noted the forums being inaccessible, possibly due to a recent web server move.[2]
Posteriorly errors and page loss have been documented,[3] with two different texts presented over the years, dated July 2009[3] and April 2018.[4] By 2024, much of the site will no longer available.
The site's archivists were initially Tyr, Joy and BJ. Later countless other names were added, some of them also authors such as Babaca or Tiercel.[1][5]
Archiving Policy
Gundam Wing Addiction was created to serve as a home for Gundam Wing fanfiction authors, particularly those without a homepage, when I realized the plight of fic writers without the time -or HTML knowledge- to set up their own site. Therefore, a major requirement is that all GW fics by any author hosted here be archived: an all-or-nothing kind of deal, and a one-way street: once in, there is no way out.Gundam Wing Addiction is a closed archive, meaning that submissions are not accepted. Please do not send submissions by email: there are a lot of fanfiction websites out there whose webmasters are happy to receive submissions, and most of them can be found through Anipike or GW webrings, mailing lists and forums.
By contrast, archiving at Gundam Wing Addiction is by invitation only and the best way to get invited is to post your fics on gw-fan so that I may read them, since this is the main Gundam Wing mailing list I am on.[6]

For the truly confused:Why yaoi? I often get asked by newcomers to the yaoi genre why the GW characters are portrayed as gay in a lot of the fanfics archived here. My immediate answer is that GW Addiction is not for the education of non-yaoi fans, so go away, shoo! But here is my standard answer for anyone who is still interested after this rude rebuttal.

Between 2001 and 2004, an annual contest was held to determine the best fanfic in the Fluff and Angst categories. Authors could submit their stories for judging and Winners were chosen by popular vote.
