Reactions and Reviews
1989
There is originality in the idea of Kirk receiving Spock's erotic dreams about him without realizing their source. Nevertheless, there is a basic problem with the concept. I don't agree that shielding against Kirk should be such a terrible hardship for Spock. Unless Spock is an incompetent telepath, he should be able to shield at any time. Spock also says in this story that he leaks telepathicaily under conditions of stress. If this were so, he could never have stood up to the mind sifter in "Errand of Mercy". Shields are especially necessary in stressful situations. I didn't find this story very believable. [1]
1998
Kirk experiences erotic dreams without knowing that they originate from Spock. It’s fun to read about his reaction to those dreams in thoughts and feelings. That Romulan interlude is something of a downer. Kirk not putting two and two together is very unlikely, especially after that bridge scene. [2]
