Graphig (グラフィグ), short for graphic figure, is a line of stylized, collectible, papercraft model kits produced by Cospa. The designs are credited to Nasos of the design group NC Empire. Each Graphig is sold as a flat, printed paper template for the purchaser to assemble into a figure without the need for scissors or glue. They are approximately 11cm tall and take around 10-15 minutes to assemble. They retail for ¥600. The first official Graphig release was of Hatsune Miku on May 21, 2011.[1] As of 2019 there have been 476 official Graphigs released.
While Cospa works with brands to create official Graphig products they also allow anyone to use their template to create their own Graphig so long as it is released under creative commons.[2] They provide a blank template for artists to use that has been refined over the years, with version 6.1 being the current iteration. This has encouraged a large custom community to form online, particularly in Japanese anime and video game fandoms. Much of the custom communities works are shared on pixiv and twitter.
