Grant Chapman is a fanon character originating from the fic All The Young Dudes in the Marauders Era subsection of the Harry Potter fandom.
All the Young Dudes
Grant first appears in chapter 71: Fourth Year: June of All the Young Dudes. He's Remus Lupin's new roommate at St Edmunds. Over the course of the summer he and Remus become romantically involved, him being Remus' gay awakening. In Remus' remaining time at Hogwarts, he sometimes calls with Remus, often giving him advice about his feelings for Sirius Black. When Remus is unable to call Grant, he sometimes imagines him to ask for advice.
When Remus runs away after Sirius exposed his secret to Severus Snape, he goes to visit Grant, who takes care of him. A year later Remus returns the favor, when Grant is in a really bad position. He just got out of an abusive relationship, is broke with a broken rib and drinks way too much. There's a bootleg tape written about this from Grant's perspective.
After that Grant moves to live with his cousin for a bit. He gets better and decides to take his A-levels, since he never finished school. Over the years he keeps in touch with Remus.
After the war, takes care of Remus. He visits him every so often, making sure he eats and showers. Eventually he moves in with Remus, because he'd been kicked out of his old place. Grant stays cheerful in those first months, even when Remus is awful to him. After months Remus gets better. He tells Grant about the wizarding world and about what happened in the war. Grant is at this point working with at risk-kids, like he once was. Remus and Grant live together and are in a relationship for thirteen years, until Sirius returns. Grant decides to leave, because it is obvious Remus and Sirius still love eachother. He tells Remus that it's breaking his heart to stay here and that Remus has been his little bit of magic.
In Out of the Blue we learn that Grant is now married to a man named Marcus and that they foster kids together. He meets Teddy Lupin and tells him about his father.

Grant is one of the most beloved original characters in the marauders fandom and has been mentioned in a few other works. When A Blind Man Cries by B1ueB1rd5 is a tribute fanfiction to Grant. It's about his life, spanning from 1971 to 1995, possibly beyond. There are also many fanedits, primarily on Tiktok. The fancast for Grant Chapman is most often British actor George Mackay.
