Glacial Waltz is a for-charity fanzine centered on the character Kaeya from Genshin Impact. In total, $5136.15 was donated to the charity Save the Children at the end of the project[1]. The zine PDF was released for free on November 30, 2022[2].

About

The interest check for this project ran from March 1-15, 2021[3], and some data from the results was shared on on their Twitter afterwards. Mod applications for the project ran from March 7-19, 2021[4], while contributor applications ran from April 1 to May 1, 2021[5].

Preorders opened on September 24, 2021 and ran until November 30, 2021[6], with the following pricing tiers:

  • Never-ending Performance ($20 USD): Digital Zine Bundle
  • Glacial Waltz ($28 USD): Physical Zine
  • Glacial Whirlwind ($45 USD): Physical Zine + Prints + Sticker Sheets + Stickers
  • Pavo Ocellus ($75 USD): Physical Zine + Prints + Sticker Sheets + Stickers + Charms + Standee + Digital Zine Bundle

Digital bundle add-ons were available for $15 USD for the Glacial Waltz and Glacial Whirlwind tiers.

Three stretch goals were included in the project: an A5 print of the front cover art at 25%, a washi tape at 50%, and an enamel pin at 100%[7]. All stretch goals were unlocked by November 1, 2021[8], to be included in all physical orders.

For the first weekend of preorders, there was an early bird special that added a Kaeya primogem sticker to all physical orders[9]. There were also one-day discounts of 10% for Halloween[10] and Genshin Impact's anniversary[11], as well as a 20% discount for the final day of zine preorders, which was Kaeya's birthday (November 30)[12]. The zine Twitter account also ran four digital bundle giveaways and two full bundle giveaways over the course of preorders.

Leftover sales opened June 1, 2022[13] and closed June 26, 2022[14] with a 50% discount on the last two days of sales[15].
