Getaway's characterization within the Transformers Generation One IDW Comics, primarily by head writer James Roberts, is often the subject of ableism discussion meta. He becomes the main villain of the comic after conducting mutiny on the Lost Light. Throughout LL's run and within the fandom, Getaway is seen as one of the few irredeemable characters.
Meta and fix-it fics may try and justify Getaway's want to lead the ship without the violence and manipulation present within canon.
