Fur suits the top pursuit for VancouFur attendees is an article by Larissa Cahute in Canadian newspaper, The Province. It provides coverage of the expected events at the fifth VancouFur convention in Vancouver. The article also provides a description of "furry fandom",[1] quotes from attendees, and a discussion of the stigma around the furry community.

Excerpts

"Many community members are hesitant to talk about it to media because of its often negative perception, mainly due to a CSI episode that portrayed them as sexual deviants. But that image is only “conceived by television drama” and couldn’t be further from the truth, said Cekuba. “(Furries) are just someone who’s in touch with nature, animal life,” she said."

"VancouFur is like Comic-Con, but geared toward anthropomorphic characters. While Comic-Con sees people dress up as comic book characters, furries create their characters, often inspired by cartoons like Darkwing Duck, DuckTales or even Bugs Bunny. “It’s very creative and that’s really a big part of the community,” said Cekuba, who was initially drawn to it as a cartoon artist."
