Reactions and Reviews

This story is filled with wonderful things. So many wonderful characters that we know and so much happens I hardly know where to begin.

Anyway, there’d really be no way I could recount the entire plot—it is so dense and fast paced. Perhaps a little too dense and fast-paced, but I’ll get to that later.

But I will tell some of what goes on, so skip to the last paragraph if you don’t want to know. And there’s a lot, believe me.

This is a terrific Mirror universe complete with evil characters like Admiral Nogura and sly, crafty opportunists like Moreau and lots of those bodyguards and especially wonderfully powerful and sexy Kirk and Spock.

Where do I start? Basically Kirk and Spock are swept up in the vicious machinations of the evil Empire and equally swept up in their growing link with each other.

All kinds of things happen: Spock gets poisoned and is presumed dead; Kirk walks into a trap set by Willard Decker to kill him; Ilia shows up with a phaser; Spock comes to the rescue; he had been in a coma from a poisoned chess piece set by Moreau; Kirk takes the Enterprise away because he doesn’t want to bring Spock to Sarek; Nogura gives him a time limit to find a cure...etc. And this is just the first part.

Many neat scenes: such as Kirk by Spock’s bedside and he touches Spock’s face and relives memories in a second. “Don’t die on me, you stubborn Vulcan. Come back. Come back to me.”

They go to Spock’s “vacation home” outside of San Francisco and Sybok (who is Spock’s uncle in this universe—much better!) lives there.

Nogura shows up and captures and imprisons Kirk and Spock underground in his private headquarters. It turns out Nogura has been the mastermind behind the control of Starfleet and its captains as part of a group who run the Empire.

Then another terrific scene as Nogura tells Spock that Kirk must die and orders Spock to kill Kirk himself. Sybok comes to the rescue and Nogura’s dead and everyone’s glad. A clever touch to show a “August Picard” as “the oldest Starship captain in the fleet”.

Finally, Spock wants to resign and return to Vulcan. Of course Kirk doesn’t want him to and McCoy helps out with some “special” handcuffs that will be Spock-escape proof. Another excellent scene when Kirk confronts Spock after a shower and refuses his resignation.

Spock flees to a planet with many Vulcan expatriates. Kirk goes after him and gets him behind a force-field in a hotel room (!) and puts those great handcuffs on him. Oh boy! I was waiting for that. “I want you, Spock, I finally realize that I have for years. I want to see you naked. I want to feel you tremble as I touch you. I want to fuck you. I want to hear you scream my name.” This was one hot sex scene.

In case you think I’ve told too much of the plot, I only told a small portion of what happened! That’s good and not so good in this story—sometimes in just one sentence a major event takes place. It made for slightly slow reading as you can’t miss even one sentence because something important might happen in it. Truly this story could be a novel.

But I loved it—it’s imaginative, both Mirror Kirk and Spock are well-portrayed and their love for each other is made abundantly clear. Highly recommended. [1]
