Reactions and Reviews

ST2 times; on Kirk's birthday. Kirk and Spock are living together in San Francisco; the relationship has been very strained.

The whole bit with Spock luring Kirk with meat was totally weird. Spock eating the meat was even weirder, and their fighting over it even weirder than that. It is explained in terms of a very basic Psych-101-type exercise to spark Kirk's reactions.

I suppose eating animal flesh can be an erotic device (was that intended at all in this story?) if done in the right way, and I'm sure someone who has zero qualms about eating meat would feel differently, but I found the scene repellent, repulsive, repugnant. Was that partly the intent?

Clearing the air is a very valid point and it was realty necessary for them to do so under the circumstances, but what a crude way to do it!! Not that I mind crude, or even shock value — I like them. But I guess Spock using meat to get to Kirk in some way is just too...tasteless. Perhaps if something like this happened in a dream it would be more palatable.

Some strung-out sentences, improper POV switches. Some amount of explaining the obvious. And. Spock wouldn't call Kirk "Admiral" in a private conversation at home (with a straight face that is) would he? [1]
