Firebird -- The Phoenix is a gen "self-contained alternate universe zine based on the TV series 'The Phoenix'."
About
"We have taken the series quite a few steps further, however, and have given Bennu a home planet, complete with a past life and family. Nine full story lines have been developed which entail Bennu's life on this home planet, his mission to Earth, his discovery on Earth, earlier than planned, and his present and future activities on Earth. Material is now in process to take us through Issue #6. If you would like to become involved with a different perspective than that of other zines based on the original Phoenix concept, then try Firebird -- The Phoenix, where we have laid out story directives, past, present, and future." -- from the ad in Datazine #37

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 3
A stylish Phoenix zine, dedicated to the short-lived tv series with Judson Scott as the gentle alien, Bennu. Striking art includes a portfolio by Don Lewis in his silky, black ink style and a cover that celebrates nature with a tasteful Bennu au naturel. Stories range from tales of Bennu's homeworld to his adventures on Earth. Editor and writer I. Joan Kokolus graces the pages with her delicate artwork. Also poems and inside cover sketches of Bennu incorporated into the Egyptian and Mayan cultures. 100 pages of creativity. [1]
