The Final boss is the term gamers commonly use for the antagonist fought at the very end of a video game - defeating the final boss results in winning the game.
They may appear earlier, so the protagonist has to fight them (and win) multiple times to get through the game.
They are often shipped with the protagonist and/or their underlings. If there is a captured character (like Princess Peach or Zelda), they may be shipped with that character as well.
