So the two pieces were published in the same year. The all-important question: which came first? Could this one be a visual pun, since it depicts Mirror!Spock and is a "mirror" of the other piece, but with the characters swapping positions.--æþel (talk) 02:35, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

It's not a canon pose/publicity still thing. The artists knew each other, so perhaps a riff on the same photo reference or an agreement? I've seen nothing in comments that talks about the resemblance, and it is more than a coincidence (as per the hands and the muscular upper arm). I'm GUESSING Shelley's came first, as it was well-known as the art that make people make a fuss at Worldcon (held in Aug/Sept that year, so the date is no help). But other than that, I'm not sure.
