In the Sherlock fandom, Fawnlock refers to a type of AU in which Sherlock Holmes is an anthropomorphized deer. Fawnlock has appeared in fanart, fanfiction, and cosplay.

Fawnlock was invented by Tumblr user bennyslegs circa 2012. In July 2012, bennyslegs posted Fawnlock RP on AO3, but this was not the earliest fawnlock work, reportedly a doodle by bennyslegs.[1] As of October 2012, a tumblr account called fawnlock existed to house the creators' and other fans' fawnlock works.

Sometimes Fawnlock is depicted as a faun (Faunlock), though bennyslegs said that he was originally meant to be a deer:

originally, when i created him, fawnlock had human feet and legs. when i talk about him, this is the fawnlock i am imagining. people draw him with delicate deer legs too, which i love! i prefer the deer legs to goat, faun-like legs, just because i think it fits into his design more, but anything goes! his name suggests he’s a faun so people assume so, which is entirely my fault for calling him fawnlock. i don’t blame anyone for jumping to that conclusion. i called him ‘fawnlock’ because i like the word fawn! i just think it sounds nicer than ‘deerlock’. i refer to him as a ‘fawn’ and his kind as ‘fawns’, to make it clear he is his own species. they are not baby deer, i just stole the name, and went with it.[2]
